Citi Virtual FinTech Hackathon is behind us! Over the past week, several great teams have been working on designing a mobile payment system using QR codes.
We received 53 registrations and 12 teams joined the Citi Virtual Fintech Hackathon. The best project was presented by a team of students from the Universities of Gdańsk and Warmia and Mazury. The teams from the University of Warsaw and the University of Economics in Poznań took the second and third place, respectively. Winners were awarded with attractive prizes: 1st place – PS5 Console, 2nd place - SEGWAY Ninebot Kickscooter E25E, 3rd place - DJI Mini 2 Drone.
- The most exciting part about the Hackathon was to see teams presenting their working prototypes in the end. Participants often had to create test banking applications to demonstrate the functionality and integration strategies. I was really happy to see how they researched PSD2 (Payment Services Directive 2) to understand how they could leverage Open Banking APIs in their systems. Winning teams also carefully considered security, reusability, UX and future roadmaps. We have seen detailed design diagrams and screen mock-ups explaining consumer journeys. Overall, we were truly impressed with all deliveries – especially taking into account a very limited timeframe – says Piotr Nowak, Application Development Group Manager and Head of Jury Board.
