More than USD 411 billion – according to joint estimates of the Government of Ukraine, the World Bank, the European Commission and the UN, this is the cost of rebuilding and reviving Ukraine's economy in 2023-2033. This is more than 2.5 times more than Ukraine's GDP in 2022. According to other calculations, this amount may even reach 1 trillion dollars. No country could bear such a burden by itself.
The process of restoring Ukraine’s economic balance will require the involvement of many international and political organizations as well as of foreign business.
- We all hope for the fastest ending of the war. As Citi, we want to play an active role in reconstruction of Ukraine and its further development, and to support integration of Ukrainian economy with European Union and global partners. There are new investors in the country already. Today, more than 600 Polish companies actively do business there, and their numbers will certainly increase significantly when hostilities cease, said Sebastian Perczak, Poland’s Commercial Banking Head at Citi Handlowy
According to analysts of the Polish Economic Institute, the scale of Polish direct investments in Ukraine (in addition to direct involvement in the reconstruction of this country) may increase to USD 30 billion over the next five years. The greatest potential in this area demonstrate Polish companies from the following industries: construction, energy, logistics as well as companies related to urban planning and broadly understood infrastructure. Those that will actively participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine after the end of the war will require support from a reliable financial partner.
