Employees of Citi in Poland (Citi Handlowy and Citibank Europe plc), members of Citi Pride Poland, were named the LGBT+ Employee Led Network of the year for implementing activities supporting LGBT+ people in the organization. Thus, the company was again awarded for its activities aimed at building a workplace that supports diversity in many areas.
At Citi, diversity is treated as an indicator of the organizational culture. It is about ensuring that the organization employs people with different length of working experience and of different ages, and that the people being in the minority due to their origin, sexual orientation or views can feel good at Citi and have the same opportunities to grow their careers.
The LGBT+ Diamonds Polish Business Award is a particularly important distinction for us. Both the employer, Citi in Poland, and the employees equally support building a diverse work environment. Thus, we let our employees and clients know that we are open to different points of view and that they can be themselves in our organization. This translates into good cooperation and involvement in teams, says Nuri Ulusoy, Pride Network Poland Co-Chair, Operation Risk Officer at Citibank Europe plc.
These are real actions, such as adapting our regulations and employee benefits to the situation of civil partnerships or carrying out information campaigns which help us better understand one another and become open to different points of view. We are supported in these pursuits by non-governmental organizations, says Anna Siemieniuk, Pride Network Poland Co-Chair, Manager at the Credit Card Product Management Department at Citi Handlowy.
At Citi, the need to acknowledge diversity originates from the employees themselves. They initiated 5 networks operating at Citi in Poland: Women Network, Citi Parents, Citi Multicultural, Citi disAbility and Citi Pride, supported by the representatives of Citi Group units' senior management. These initiatives allow our employees to integrate around topics they deem important, and they improve cooperation within our organization, regardless of the competences and positions held. Diversity is also about promoting a healthy life style and developing one’s passions under the Live Well at Citi and Citi Poland Choir actions. By partnering with the Polish Paralympic Committee and promoting the paralympic movement, we also want to support a change in the social perception of disability. Employees of Citi in Poland speak 29 languages and represent almost 60 nationalities.
Citi in Poland was recently awarded for its actions and named one of the winners of the Diversity&Inclusion Rating, a new initiative of the Responsible Business Forum and Deloitte, which aims at measuring a company’s involvement in diversity and building an inclusive and ethical organization. The first edition of the rating included 5 companies which demonstrated the highest level of diversity management.
